Solar Productions used two Highland Green ’68 Ford Mustang GT 390s in the filming of Bullitt. One was confirmed as destroyed, and the other went through a series of hands before disappearing into a barn in the Southern United States. But several credible “tribute” cars have been built, including this one belonging to Californian Dave Kunz. It has appeared in a Ford TV commercial, and on the rock video for Sheryl Crow’s hit song, Steve McQueen. I drove it through San Francisco on the actual Bullitt chase scene route. Photo by Evan Klein.
