Mitch David Carter began acting at the age of 10 in a production of Stop the World, I Want to Get Off as Little
Chap. Over the next 25 years, he pursued his dream through local productions, starring roles at the University of
Kansas, student films and educational films. In 1980, he auditioned for the American Academy of Dramatic Arts
(then located in Pasadena, CA) and was accepted. Upon completing his studies there, he embarked on a professional
acting career that culmintaed in guest star and co-star roles on L.A. Law (working with Michael Chiklis),
Freddy's Nightmares, The Twilight Zone, Tour of Duty and others. He enjoyed working with Matthew Broderick,
Helen Hunt, Lindsey Wagner, Valerie Harper, Linda Blair, Avery Brooks, John de Lancie, Nana Visitor, Jonathan
Frakes, Harvey Fierstein, Ken Page, Johnny Venocur, Linnea Quigley and many others.
Mitch enjoyed Steve McQueen's films The Towering Inferno and Papillion when they were released in the theaters
but it wasn't until a director at the University of Kansas gave him the direction "I want you to be cool--like Steve
McQueen!" that he really sat up and took notice and became a fan. As he's gotten a bit older and put a few lines
on his face, Mitch has had the pleasure of being told multiple times by friends, family, co-workers and total
strangers (like the guy at Burbank airport, who worked as an extra on Bullitt) that "You really remind me of
Steve McQueen!" It's with those words ringing in his ears that Mitch is "coming out of retirement", dusting off
the old skills in the hope of at least being considered to play Steve in the project in development at New Line.
